FINALLY put out added sugar recommendations for KIDS! (March, 2019). But we still need added sugar recommendations during pregnancy! Let's start talking about it!

THERE ARE STILL NO ADDED SUGAR RECOMMENDATIONS DURING PREGNANCY...YET THE LATEST STUDIES SHOW ADDED SUGAR CONSUMED IN PREGNANCY CAN HAVE NEGATIVE HEALTH OUTCOMES FOR CHILDREN. RECOMMENDATIONS ARE NEEDED, NOW!

More and more studies confirm that high sugar intake in pregnancy increases the risk of obesity, Type II Diabetes, and cardiovascular disease for children later in life. For that reason, we are advocating that recommendations are established for added sugar and refined carbohydrate intake during pregnancy! -Kira Heartwick, RDN
